Parallel Storylines: Humans, Robots, and the Fight to Preserve Earth

There is a parallel between Godzilla and Pacific Rim. The monster in both movies emerge from the depths of the ocean, are giants, and are adamant about destroying humans and life on the land. The mutation caused by the radiation of the atomic bombs created Godzilla. However, we do not know the origins of the Kaiju, who emerged from the interdimensional portal. Godzilla and Kaiju are both large beings that have more or less a similar physical structure.

The humans created massive robots that they pilot to fight against the Kaiju. They are called Jaegers. Each robot requires two pilots who share a mental link called Drifting. This allows them to easily control the robot. Until here, keep in mind the concept of humans controlling giant robots to fight against the giant underwater monster.

Now let us talk about the animated series, Mech Cadets, airing on Netflix. The giant robots pr Robo (Robo Mech) from space arrive on Earth that the youth pilots. They use the robots to fight the crab-like giant aliens that are called “Shargs.” The robots connect through a neural bond with the young cadets who are selected to get on board the robot and pilot them.

These two concepts from Pacific Rim and Mech Cadets provide a similar storyline – robots, human pilots, neural connections, and giant aliens. The Pacific Rim franchise has been here for a decade with the first movie directed by Guillermo del Toro. The sequel, Pacific Rim: Uprising was released in 2018, directed by Steven S. DeKnight.  We have to see how well Mech Cadets will fare on Netflix.
