Pentagon Releases Secret UFO Files to the Public

The Pentagon recently released a large collection of previously secret UFO documents. It has given the public a rare never-seen-before look into decades of reports, sightings, and strange incidents connected to unidentified flying objects UFOs, now referred to as Unidentified Aerial Phenomena or UAPs.

The documents were released online after US President Donald Trump directed the Pentagon earlier this year to do so in response to increasing public interest in extraterrestrial life and UFO sightings. As many as 161 files were uploaded to the website of the Department of Defense. It is expected that more files will be released in the weeks to come.

Interest in UFOs has increased in the United States in recent years. In 2022, Congress held its first hearings on UFOs in 50 years, while the military promised to become more transparent about such aerial sightings. Former President Barack Obama also drew attention to the topic earlier this year when, during an interview, he joked that aliens were “real, but I haven’t seen them.” He later clarified that while life beyond Earth may not exist, he had seen no evidence during his tenure at the White House. The newly released documents, however, include military memos, astronaut transcripts, reports from civilians, and records from Apollo Moon missions. Many of the reports describe unusual lights, strange flying objects, and unexplained events witnessed both on Earth and in space.

One of the most discussed parts of the release involves transcripts from Apollo missions in the 1960s and 1970s. Buzz Aldrin, one of the astronauts from the Apollo 11 Moon mission, spoke in a 1969 interview about seeing a bright light during the journey to the Moon. Apollo 12 astronaut Alan Bean also described seeing particles and flashes of light moving through space while on the mission in 1969. According to the transcript, the particles looked like they were “escaping the Moon.” Astronauts aboard Apollo 17 in 1972 also reported seeing flashing lights while traveling in space.

Another interesting file includes an audio recording from the Gemini 7 mission in 1965. Astronaut Frank Borman reported seeing an unidentified object and described “trillions of little particles” floating near the spacecraft. The released files also contain reports from ordinary citizens. One report from 1957 describes a man telling the FBI he saw a large circular object rise from the ground.
Despite the excitement surrounding the files, the Pentagon has not confirmed the existence of aliens or extraterrestrial spacecraft. Many incidents still remain unexplained, while others may have scientific or military explanations. However, the release of these documents has once again sparked global curiosity about what may exist beyond Earth.
