“Power Rangers: Once and Always” brings back old memories

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first appeared on the television screen 30 years ago in 1993. Since then, the team of ordinary humans has superpowers to call upon assault vehicles, Zords, that can assemble to form the Megazord.

The Power Rangers’ franchise over the years has been a successful one indeed. The original television series ran from 1993 to 1996 followed by 20 comic book series, 29 television series, and multiple films. On April 19, Netflix released Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always. The special reunion brings back the famed stars from the 1993 series. These include David Yost as the Blue Ranger and Walter Emanuel as the Black Ranger. The movie does bring back memories from yesteryear with the same feel of the dialogues and the tension building between the Rangers and their arch nemesis Rita Repulsa. The movie perhaps was more of a closure for the Yellow Ranger, Trini Kwan, who is killed by Rita in the opening moments of the movie. Trini was played by Thuy Trang in the original series. She passed away in 2001. The movie is surely a ride back in time for those who saw the original series and the early movies. This movie will serve as a foundation for the millennials who want to connect with the Power Rangers brand. The movie ends with the original cast singing a melodious song. Including this is Jason David Frank, the original Green Ranger, who also passed away in November 2022.
